Course Description

The assessment of the experimental class is mainly in the form of experimental reports.

Chemistry is a subject with strong practicality.Through the experiment of inorganic chemistry, deepen our understanding of the basic theory of inorganic chemistry, inorganic compound material and reaction performance, get familiar with the general separation and preparation methods of inorganic compounds, and master the basic experimental methods and operational skills of inorganic chemistry. To cultivate students' ability to think and solve problems independently, and lay a good foundation for the students to study and work. The main task of this course is: master the correct use of inorganic chemistry experiment instrument and the basic skill of experiment operation;Master the properties, preparation and purification methods of simple substance and compounds of common elements;Deepen the understanding of the basic principles and basic knowledge of Inorganic Chemistry; Learnmethods for the determination of certain constants;Cultivate the correct observation and recording of chemical reaction phenomena, analysis, synthesis and induction experiment phenomenon, correctly handle the data, drawing instrument equipment and complete experiment reports;Training rigorous scientific attitude of seeking truth from facts, to develop accurate, meticulous, serious, clean experimental habits.

Topics and Schedule

The first part: basic operation experiment

Experiment 1: the reaction cycle of copper

Take the reagent grade copper powder as the starting material, through a series of reaction cycles, eventually obtained nearly 100%Cu powder recovery rate.Understand the chemical reaction of copper through experiment;Practice the basic operation of chemical experiments, such as solid-liquid separation, washing, evaporation, etc.

Experiment 2: preparation of ammonium ferrous sulfate

Preparation of double salt of ammonium ferrous sulfate, study of water bath heating, atmospheric filtration and vacuum filtration method, and other basic operations.

Second part: chemical principle and chemical equilibrium experiment

Experiment 3: measurement of the ionization constant of acetic acid

Measurement of the ionization constant of acetic acid.Master the principle of the ionization equilibrium of weak electrolyte;Practice solution preparation and acid base titration operation; learning using acidity meter.

Experiment 4: measurement of the Avogadro constant and gas constant by electrolysis method

Measure the Avogadro constant and gas constant by electrolysis method and understand the principle of this method;become familiar with the concept of partial pressure, and the application of the ideal gas formula;Exercises to measure the volume of gas;Practice the use of electronic balance.

Experiment 5:acid-base balance and precipitation-Solution equilibrium

Understand the principle of acid-base balance and the factors affecting the balance movement;Prepare buffer solution and acquire its properties;Formation, complete and transformation conditions of the experimental precipitation;Master the use of indicators and pH test paper, study the centrifugal separation operation.

Experiment 6:measurement of fission energy of[Ti(H2O)6]3+[Cu(H2O)6]2 and [Cu(NH3)6]2+

The splitting energy of the complex was determined by spectrophotometric method, and understand the influence of the strength of the ligand on the splitting energy.

The third part: the nature of elements and the experiment of qualitative analysis

Experiment 7:Elemental properties: halogen, oxygen, sulfur

Test, compare and master the oxidation property of halogen and the reduction of halogen ion;Try effect of hydrogen fluoride on the corrosion of glass;Master the detection method for the separation of halogen ions in aqueous solution.

Through experiments to further understanding and grasp the nature of the specific compounds, such as: the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide reduction, instability and the transfer of peroxide;Reduction of hydrogen sulfide;Reduction, instability and complexation of thiosulfuric acid;Oxidation ofpersulfacte.Master the method of separating S2O32-, SO32- and S2- in aqueous solution.Through the experimental summarize of the law of the material oxidation and reduction:In general, in the high oxidation state of the material is often oxidation,in the low oxidation state, the material is often reduced, and the intermediate oxidation state has both oxidizing and reducing properties.

Experiment 8:Element properties: nitrogen, phosphorus and model making

Oxidation and reduction experiment of nitrite;Understanding of the formation and properties of anhydrous phosphoric acid, metaphosphoric acid and orthophosphoric acid.Master the identification of reaction conditionsand phenomenonof ammonium ion, nitrate radical, nitrite, metaphosphate, orthophosphate, and pyrophosphate. Master the methods of distinguishing metaphosphate, orthophosphate, and pyrophosphate.

Experiment 9:Redox and elemental properties: chromium and manganese

Understand the common oxidation states of chromium and its color and states of existence, master the corresponding transformation conditions.Understand of the common oxidation states of manganese and its color, states of existence and properties. To explain the experimental phenomena by using the theory of "four balances", especially the knowledge of the redox reaction and the electrode potential.

Experiment 10:Element properties: copper, silver, zinc, cadmium

The formation and properties of copper, silver, zinc, cadmium hydroxide (oxide), ammonia complex and sulfide.Redox properties of copper and silver compounds.

Experiment 11:Complex element properties: iron, cobalt, nickel

Compare the properties of complex ions and simple ions;Compare the stability of complex ions;themutual effects of acid-base balance, precipitation equilibrium, oxidation reduction equilibrium and coordination equilibrium.Master the use of multiple equilibrium constants and reactant concentration changes to analyze and understand thechemical equilibrium and movement of equilibrium. The formation and properties of iron, cobalt and nickel complexes.
