Founded in 1978, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) was the first education institution for graduate students in China approved by both the State Council and the Ministry of Education. It is now China's largest and most comprehensive graduate university in terms of graduate enrollments and diversity of scientific disciplines. It is a research university committed to the provision of quality graduate education, including all major fields of science, technology, and engineering. Over the past 30 years, the university has graduated about 100,000 MS and Ph.D. students. The university has a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research for more than 100 research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences over the past decade. Currently, there are up to 39,000 registered graduate students, among which about 50% are doctoral students.
UCAS is seeking academic leaders, young instructors and postdoctoral fellows to meet the research and teaching requirement in all academic fields due to increasing workloads. 1. Faculty and Postdoctoral Positions
1.1 Academic Leaders
Applicants are expected to have a strong record of publications in reputable journals and the rank of a senior professional position or equivalent position. Team spirit, public service awareness and excellent communication skills are also essential. The specific requirements will comply with the relevant national documents and documents of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
² Long Term 1000-Talent Program
Requirements: Qualified candidates are expected to 1) have substantial research and teaching experience at prestigious overseas universities, 2) be under 55 years old, and 3) hold a senior academic position or an equivalent position in distinguished overseas universities or research institutes. This is a full-time position, and thus the candidates, once hired, should work in China for at least nine months per year.
² Short Term 1000-Talent Program
Requirements: Qualified candidates are expected to 1) have a Ph.D. degree at overseas universities, 2) be under 55 years old, and 3) be scholars with a senior academic position at prestigious overseas universities or research institutes. This is a part-time position, and thus the candidates, once hired, should work in China for at least three successive years, with a minimum of two months per year.
² Foreign Experts of the 1000-Talent Program
Requirements: Qualified candidates should be non-Chinese experts who meet the standards of the 1000-Talent Program mentioned above. The age limit could be extended to 65 years old. This is a full-time position, and thus the candidates, once hired, should work in China for at least three successive years, with a minimum of nine months per year.
² Early Career 1000 -Talent Program
Requirements: The candidates should be under 40 years old, be leading talents among their peers in the natural sciences or engineering, and have the potential to become academic or technical leaders in their fields. Three kinds of applicants might qualify: 1) applicants recieving a Ph.D. degree at prestigious overseas universities and having at least three years of overseas teaching or research experience 2) applicants obtaining a Ph.D. degree in China and having at least five years of overseas teaching or research experience 3) for those who have made exceptional achievements during their Ph.D. study, the appointment is possible without considering their age or employment experience.
² Overseas 100-Talent Program (funded by the CAS)
Requirements: Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. degree and four successive years of overseas work and research experience. They should be academically competent as a professor or research fellow of the UCAS. Applicants should be under 40 years old. For the candidates who are in urgent need or particularly exceptional, the age limit could be extended to 45 years old.
² Domestic 100-Talent Program (funded by the CAS)
Requirements: The applicants should have work experience as a professor or in a corresponding position outside of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. They should have solid evidence of being academically distinguished. Applicants should be under 40 years old.
² On-Campus 100-Talent Program (funded by the UCAS)
Requirements: Overseas applicants should have a Ph.D. degree and four successive years of teaching and research experience, domestic applicants should have a senior academic rank and substantial teaching and research experience at prestigious universities of the 985 Project or at national research institutes. For applicants in the natural sciences, they should be under 40 years old, for those in the humanities, social sciences or management, the applicants should be under 45 years old, for particularly exceptional candidates, the age limit could be extended.
1.2 Teaching Positions
Requirements: The applicants are expected to be an associate professor with relevant teaching and research experience, and should be under 40 years old. Exceptional doctors and post-doctors under 35 years old are also qualified for this position.
1.3 Postdoctoral Positions
Requirements: Applicants recently obtaining Ph.D. degrees or postdoctoral fellows could apply for the postdoctoral positions. The applicants should abide by academic norms, have team spirit, be healthy, and be under 40 years old.
For those expecting to engage in both teaching and research and under 35 years old, may also apply for teaching postdoctoral positions. Qualified candidates are expected to demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research, and teach one graduate course and assist in the teaching of another graduate course. After completing postdoctoral work, outstanding postdoctoral fellows will be considered for possible appointment to UCAS faculty positions.

3. Benefits and Policies
Successful candidates for academic leaders and teaching positions will be provided with a package consisting of salary, post-allowance, performance allowance and housing allowance stipulated by national policies. For urgently-needed talents, a settling-in allowance of 50,000-200,000 RMB will be provided. For academic leaders, a special bonus is provided by the Chinese Government, CAS or UCAS. For postdoctoral positions, UCAS will award two-year postdoctoral positions to eligible, talented researchers with the possibility of renewal for a third year contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. Full-time postdoctoral fellows will be eligible for salary and full employee benefits. UCAS offers temporary apartment, or housing subsidies of 1000 RMB per month for Chinese citizens. Those applicants who received their Ph.D. abroad from the worlds' top 100 universities may apply for the International Indraught Program of post-doctors. Successful candidates will be granted a research fund of 300,000 RMB each year during the two years, provided by the National Post-Doctor Regulatory Commission.
